Sol is Americas and global Group accounts Sustainability Lead at Capgemini, where he oversees work across the Americas and globally on five sustainability priorities: (1) Net Zero Strategy and New Business Models; (2) Sustainable IT; (3) Sustainable Operations; (4) Sustainable Products and Services; and (5) Data for Net Zero Strategy. He is a sustainability expert and digital transformation global thought leader with 25 years of experience in all aspects of sustainability and digital transformation. Sol was one of the founders of US EPA’s ENERGY STAR program and served as its Director of Strategic Planning and Brand Czar from 1991 to 2005. He was then made Assistant Office Director at EPA's Office of International Affairs where he oversaw US-led multilateral partnerships related to global climate change, clean air, water and sanitation, and solid and nuclear waste. His background includes all aspects of enterprise digital transformation, as well as circular economy, strategic energy management, green buildings, green IT, renewable energy, carbon foot-printing, environmental reporting, and environmental marketing. He was previously Global Managing Director at Accenture where he led a $300M global smart infrastructure and smart cities practice. Sol is a big proponent of partnerships and alliances, having convened and chaired a global “Dream Team” consortium of eco-system partners that operated in tandem to pursue joint global opportunities related to ‘connected’ spaces. Sol is a sought-out keynote speaker and panelist on all things digital and sustainability and is a proud advocate of human-centered design. He has presented frequently on re-purposing Maslow’s ’Hierarchy of Needs’ to prioritize, monetize, and deploy digitally-enabled use cases in ‘smart’ communities – a unique concept he first introduced while leading the city of Chicago’s smart city efforts and which is showcased on the international stage by Smart Dubai’s wholesale adoption of ‘Happiness’ as the underlying tenet of its work.
