Hintsa G. Gebremariam MD MSc — Co-Founder
Hintsa Gebreagziabhear Gebremariam is an Impact Fellow of Health Systems and Policy at University College London's Global Business School for Health. His work focuses on strengthening health systems by promoting the use of evidence in health policy-making and decisions. He recently completed his MSc in Global Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in September 2025. His dissertation focused on 'Implementation Barriers and Equity Implications of Value-Based HealthCare: A Systematic Narrative Review'. He is a medical doctor with leadership and field experience across humanitarian, clinical, and crisis settings. Previously, he worked with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Ethiopia as a Medical Activity Manager (acting), Medical Doctor, and Project Telemedicine Focal Person—roles through which he coordinated medical teams across the project, led clinical activities, and helped expand access to specialist care through MSF’s telemedicine platform in remote, crisis-affected areas. He also worked with the Tigray Regional Health Bureau (Ethiopia) as an Emergency Mobile Health and Nutrition Coordinator, where he led mobile health teams delivering essential medical and nutrition services, including maternal and child health interventions, during the Tigray War. He conducted health needs assessments, oversaw program adjustments, and collaborated with local and international partners to stabilize health service delivery in severely affected areas. Before transitioning to humanitarian roles, Hintsa worked as a General Practitioner and, later, as a Resident Physician in Ethiopia. These clinical experiences expanded his understanding of the structural barriers to quality care and motivated his shift toward health systems reform and policy design at the national and global levels. Hintsa also has a strong record of youth-led public health leadership. As National Director of Charity and Head Coordinator of the Social Duty Program with the Ethiopian Medical Students Association (EMSA), he led nationwide health outreach programs, coordinated 14 local offices, raised funding for displaced and underserved communities, and mobilized hundreds of student volunteers to deliver health education in hospitals and schools across Ethiopia. These experiences solidified his belief that lasting health impact requires both systems-level change and grassroots engagement, an ethos that continues to guide his work.
