Role - Launch Quality Non Powertrain
As part of the Launch Quality team, I have worked on International Business bus models like LP716 LHD, Rear Engine Bus by ensuring smooth transition from Prototype to Production ready models.
Working in this role of Launch Quality, the following are my responsibilities:
1. Ensure transition from prototype to production ready stage by resolving all the quality issues arising during the prototype phase.
2. Readiness of documentation for production namely PFD, PFMEA, Process Sheet and Control Plan.
3. Ensure critical parts as per design by collaboration with Vendor Quality and Metrology lab for part inspections.
4. During the launch production (1-5-25), perform MBOM audit, Identify build issues, measure critical dimensions, ensure critical torques, take chassis for drive test, finally finish with PDI.
5. Post launch, ensure documentation readiness, torque wrench availability, manpower training, checklist preparation for drive test and PDI.
6. Apart from the above, continuously monitor for new upgrades and ensure the same on all production vehicles.

The warranty payout was reduced by 75%, thereby significantly reducing the payout cost.

Project: Analysis and reduction of high blow-by and high smoke in 5L RDE Diesel engine.
This project involved working on the 5L inline diesel engines manufactured at Tata Motors Jamshedpur plant. The issue of high blowby (>30lpm) and high smoke in the exhaust of the engine lead to a reduced engine efficiency(reduced mileage) which was customer complaint.
The project involved using of TQM tools like Fishbone diagrams and Root cause analysis to identify the root cause of the problem. Then, find the appropriate counter measure and take the trial of the same. Finally, once the trial was successful and results compiled, a PDCA report was prepared and shared to the engine factory team for further implementation and SDCA preparation.
