  • At Buyhatke, I learnt the sequential processes involved in motion graphic projects which includes brainstorming, storyboarding, illustrating, detailing, animating and scrutinising. Once I was familiar with the flow of it, I moved on to learning advanced techniques. And as I always believe in building a strong fundamental base, it didn’t cause me much trouble catching up with what was next.
  • Next was learning the design principles in the videos, of which physics is an important part. And let me tell you, at present, physics is a significant part of my videos. You can just see and tell I always work on that part.
  • And just like any designer evolves with time, I later moved on to learning different design techniques like Stomp Animation, Matte Animation, 12 FPS Animation, Seamless Transitions, and even tried a hand at Logo Design.
  • The most interesting thing I learned in Stomp Animation is that the second principle of animation is anticipation. Those who know it, get it.
  • Animating the camera movement in 3D perspective using a null object was what I learned in Matte Animation style.
  • Then it was time for learning Seamless Transitions. It’s pretty obvious why transitions in the videos have to be seamless. Stitching the screens together with the help of similar design shapes and colours is how you create seamless transitions.
  • Simultaneously, I worked on my Sketching skills and to my surprise, I learnt complex designs can be broken into basic shapes and later be added with details. And in Sketching, learning Human Anatomy was the most thrilling part, which, in the present, helps me determine the range and motion of human body parts in my videos.
  • I was also given a chance to design a logo for few of our products. I did design a few and received feedback on them by my seniors, which basically said I did a fine job.
  • So far, this is what my stint at Buyhatke looks like.

The bridge

Motion Graphic Designer

Jan 2018Feb 2018 · 1 mo · Bengaluru Area, India

  • The Bridge was my first corporate internship where I got to learn how things really move inside enterprises. Under the guidance of a seasoned motion graphic designer and a great design team, I learnt the basics of maintaining a theme in a video.
  • One of the videos I worked on here was around Women's Day, where I had to infuse the video with colour grading, create a showreel using the pictures provided, and animate some basic elements. Most important thing that I learnt here was selecting the background music just at par with the sentiment of the video.
  • I wouldn't say it was anywhere even near my best work, but it was definitely an addition to my skillset. All in all, it was a good learning experience.
