Jiva AgServices is an agritech start up headquartered in Singapore. We help farmers through our applications and on-ground solutions, we provide four critical services:
low-cost financing
high-quality farm supplies
purchasing of crops
access to personalised agronomic advice.
I joined Jiva as one of the founding engineers and have been involved with and led most of the infrastructure and business decisions. I focused a lot on infrastructure, monitoring, alerting, CI/CD and good engineering practices for the first couple of months.
In September 2021 I started the engineering team for the finance vertical with the goal of building tools and systems to enable and scale up our business of agricultural Ecommerce, micro financing and purchase of crops.
I built and mentored a team of 10 engineers, designers and product managers and have been closely involved with recruitement and building a good engineering and product culture at the company.

Worked with the CFO and finance team to setup financial processes to help our stakeholders (farmers and agents) to buy inputs (seeds, fertilizers) and then sell and transport the crop to granaries

I started at Gojek with the Ride hailing team where we were innovating in the customer pickup experience. I helped implement full text search in the App, scaled our monolith by rewriting a critical part of the codebase, wrote an async service for sending notifications to customers.
We soon realised that decoupling logic and moving to an event based system (event sourcing) was the way forward for better uptime and performance in all the monoliths in the company. So I started a team that built the popular framework Ziggurat (https://github.com/gojek/ziggurat) and scaled it to more than 250 services in Gojek.
Now I lead the team that works on this framework and also provides the infrastructure that these applications run on as a PAAS.
With a team of 4, I now manage the infrastructure for these 250 Services, provide monitoring, alerting and logging solutions for them and build on the framework.
We have been leading the way towards state of the art monitoring and reliability by adding support for distributed-tracing and clustered components in the framework.
