About

I am a second-year undergraduate student at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, currently pursuing a major in Chemistry. As an INSPIRE Scholar recognized by the Department of Atomic Energy, I am driven by a strong sense of purpose to apply scientific knowledge for the greater good. My academic journey at NISER has instilled in me the discipline, curiosity, and scientific thinking essential for a career in research and innovation. I am particularly passionate about science that bridges theory with application and creates solutions that matter. Recently, I had the opportunity to intern at IIT Roorkee, where I was exposed to computational modeling and neuromorphic systems, further expanding my scientific perspective. 🔹 Values: Purpose-driven research, national contribution, continuous growth 🔹 Skills: Scientific thinking, programming (Python, C), computational tools, research communication I am committed to using science as a force for transformation — one that serves people, strengthens our nation, and uplifts humanity through knowledge, innovation, and action.

Summer Intern

May 2025 – Present · 1 yr 1 mo · Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India · On-site

  • Worked as a Summer Intern under the guidance of Dr. Ankush Kumar at the Centre for Nanotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The internship focused on neuromorphic computing with a specific emphasis on dendritic computation. The primary objective was to model and simulate biologically plausible neurons with active dendrites to understand their computational advantages for energy-efficient brain-inspired systems.
  • Key Responsibilities and Contributions
  • Developed and simulated multi-compartment spiking neuron models using Python-based tools such as Dendrify and Brian2.
  • Implemented active dendritic processing including supralinear/sublinear summation, local input gating, and coincidence detection.
  • Explored the effects of synaptic input location and timing on spike output and firing patterns in spiking neural networks (SNNs).
  • Tuned key biophysical parameters to ensure biological realism and numerical stability in simulated neurons.
  • Conducted comparative studies between passive and active dendritic models to analyze improvements in computational capacity.
  • Visualized simulations with Matplotlib and analyzed data using NumPy to study membrane potentials, synaptic currents, and spike trains.
  • Documented weekly progress, shared simulation results, and gave internal technical presentations to the research group.
  • Skills and Tools Gained
  • Programming & Tools: Python, Dendrify, Brian2, NumPy, Matplotlib
  • Core Domains: Dendritic computation, computational neuroscience, neuromorphic engineering
  • Skills: Neural modeling, multi-compartment simulation, biophysical tuning, scientific reporting, and data visualization
  • Outcome: Strengthened understanding of brain-inspired neural computation and sparked a strong interest in research at the intersection of neuroscience and AI.
