• As one of the founding members of Varaha Systems, started its India R&D center and grew it from 1 to 40 people. Varaha Systems was a product company head quartered in Dallas in the field of fixed mobile convergence.
• My responsibilities as Director (R&D) included setting up of the office, its IT infrastructure, registration with STPI and compliance, hiring and training people, setting up of internal policies and processes, appraisal and performance management, project planning and tracking along with being the architect for all products
• My subsequent role as VP (Technology) was to prepare the product roadmap, prioritize features and prepare solution documents for engineering team. Varaha’s core focus was in providing mobility. The first product provided a secure data mobility solution giving mobility between WLAN to GPRS to internet for laptops. This is deployed in US since 2004.
• Varaha’s flagship product was enterprise focused giving VoWLAN on smartphones and seamless mobility of calls between WLAN and cellular. The solution worked with all leading OEM’s IP-PBXes. All the products were developed and architected completely in India. The US office was primarily looking at sales and business development and driving requirements for India.
