• Lilacs was one of the first Indian startups to build a dedicated platform for handmade craft makers, artisans, and cultural preservationists—championing the mission of Empowering Indian Handmade Crafts. In under two years, we onboarded 20+ craftspersons from across the country, scaled to 250+ active monthly orders, and generated ~₹2 lakh in monthly revenue with less than 100 products in the catalog—driven entirely through organic traffic on our own website.
• We focused on elevating India’s artisan ecosystem by giving creators a digital identity, modern storefronts, and direct access to consumers. Through deep user research and market insights, we learned that the urban B2C market still prefers offline craft purchases and views handicrafts as premium lifestyle products rather than everyday-use items. Instead of pivoting toward a B2B export-focused model—where the problem space was already well addressed—we made a strategic decision to close operations.
• Lilacs strengthened my understanding of product–market fit, consumer behavior, GTM strategy, and the cultural nuances of building for India’s craft economy, while reinforcing the importance of solving high-urgency problems with scalable demand.
