Collaborated with the newsroom to build workflows to automate the acquisition of court documents from PACER, using Python and Selenium. This would save months of manual work to find cases that are relevant to any investigative story.
Built a Chrome extension that allows users to share content from news websites using different image templates.
Built an iOS app in Swift 5 to showcase designs around personalization features and utility journalism. The app includes layouts to show news based on user’s preferences and usage habits and interfaces to show guides such as the LA Times Coronavirus tracker and the California wildfire map. Development work for the prototype took four weeks. These features are expected to be integrated within the LA Times app.

Built VizPol, an iOS app that identifies political symbols from photos in real time. Implemented the photo upload feature that lets users zoom into different symbols and identify them.
Worked on the React Native version of the app. Added login functionality using React Native keychain and Google OAuth. Implemented functionality for users to provide feedback and a page for glossary of commonly found symbols at political rallies.
VizPol is available to select users via TestFlight and Microsoft App Center.

Developed a Google Chrome extension for Twitter that helps identify origin of images on a user’s feed.
Built a website, database and backend using Firebase to store images and run image comparison using perceptual hashing and Microsoft Azure’s
