• Project: Serial Number Detector
• Designed and developed OCR software for detection, extraction and recognition of serial number from Indian currency notes. The software was designed to be installed on machines used for counting bank notes. The machine provides scan images of the notes (800 notes per minute) which are processed by OCR software.
• Key Roles:
• Worked individually on designing and developing the OCR program using Matlab later converting it to C++.
• Implemented three-layer neural network in order to train the data set.
• Studied, analyzed and implemented various algorithms for pre-processing, roi extraction, binarisation and recognition.
• The program was fast enough to detect serial number from 700 notes per minute.
• After getting the good results on Indian currency (98%), the project was extended for Chinese currency.
