I have an engineering degree in communications and microprocessor technology and then worked for some years in the field of hardware and software development.
In 1990, I joined the telecommunications division of the Bosch group, a leading international technology and service company. Based on a study concerning the topic “Computer Integrated Manufacturing”– already at that time somehow a forerunner of Industry 4.0 – I started to develop an MES solution there. In 1998, I founded iTAC Software, together with two colleagues, Volker Burch and Christine Lahnstein, and we continued to further develop the Bosch MES solution.
Already at that time, our focus has been on internet technologies for the manufacturing industry as can be seen from our company name iTAC (Internet Technologies and Consulting) and we used – and of course – still use the technologies that today are the basis for Industry 4.0 and the “Internet of things” such as JAVA for example.
