• Estimates vary, but it is well known that it would cost more than a billion dollars to bring a new drug to market. Moreover, the failure rate of new drugs is extremely high, and drug safety problems are often discovered after millions have already been spent. Computational systems biology field offers one possible way to discover new drug targets, determine drug toxicity sooner, and efficiently hasten the development of safe and effective drugs.
• However systems biology is multi-omic data-driven quantitative research field which deals with multidimensional data in huge volumes and in several formats. Biologist and clinicians are intimidated with challenges of data collection, processing, normalisation, integration, analysis, visualization and interpretation.
• Decent commercial products are very expensive. Most of the labs in developing countries and even in developed countries were unable to afford such exuberant licensing fee.
• ✔ Solution:
• So I started BHAVA to provide easy but power tools and data for biomedical research at affordable cost. This in-turn would indirectly affect bottom line of drug production cost and so would increase availability of new drugs to masses at lower cost.
• 🎯 Vision :
• Provide web-based visual-analytical application suite powered by expert curated integrated knowledge base of biomedical networks to leverage its best use in research, clinical diagnostics and therapeutics.

• Experiments were done under guidance of Ph.D student Kachroo, Aashiq Hussain at Department of Molecular Reproduction, Development and Genetics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
• I studied regulation of gene expression under stress. Performed preliminary experiments involving cloning of promoters into upstream of YFP expression construct and transmission into Ecoli. The expression changes were then monitored using fluorescence spectroscopy. The idea was to study how different promoters respond to specific (IPTG induction and repression) or general (e.g. stress induced by heat-shock or environmental stress factors) inputs. The final goal was to formulate a computational model to study factors that underlines different promoter efficiency based on the experimental results.
