About

I bring machine learning to billions of people. Most recently, I spent a few years running AI & Data Platform organizations in self-driving. At Facebook I led ReAgent: a team that uses Reinforcement Learning to do automated marketing for billions of people. Our work is open source: https://github.com/facebookresearch/ReAgent Prior to Facebook, I lead several machine learning projects at Apple ( https://youtu.be/aUse2mr-QOo ). Prior to Apple, I was at Google Research building a large-scale machine learning platform that predicts click-through-rate and conversion rate for a significant number of properties across the corporation. For more information, check out the slides from a presentation I gave in January 2013: http://tinyurl.com/qeepsba I also co-host Programming Throwdown with Patrick Wheeler ( https://www.linkedin.com/pub/patrick-wheeler/16/500/51b ). Programming Throwdown is the most popular programming podcast on itunes, with over 28,000 active listeners worldwide ( http://www.programmingthrowdown.com/ ). Programming Throwdown is frequently in the top 100 most popular podcasts and top 10 most popular technology podcasts nationwide. At university, I co-invented HyperNEAT, a novel method for evolving the topology of deep neural networks: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperNEAT. HyperNEAT was able to evolve very large deep networks that played Checkers & Go at a high level. I am a life-learner, and have taken several courses on Coursera, primarily focused in economics and game theory.
