Kanika Shrimali — Product Manager
Hi! This is Kanika, a MS in Engineering Management student at Purdue University. I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from India in 2020. I bring full-time industry experience, having served as a Senior Product Manager at Amazon Web Services and Tesla, as well as a SWE-turned-Product Manager at American Express, prior to joining Purdue University in August 2023. At Amex, I was working within the Outbound Communications and Digital Data vertical, where I got the opportunity to build, maintain and add core-tech capabilities to event-driven microservices. One of the major milestones for me at Amex was, contributing to "India Data Localization", a large-scale project that lifted a year long ban of New Customer Acquisition on American Express in May 2022. To improve end-user engagement, I developed a scalable REST API that tracks the journey of the outbound PUSH notifications sent to Amex customers handling ~60 million requests per day. Along with the above, I led an agile scrum of High Priority deliverables, collaborating with Engineering, Risk and Product teams during sprint planning/discovery calls, rolling out ~20M regulatory, compliance and payment related communications to markets including but not limited to United States, Germany, UK, Finland, Taiwan and India. This also included low latency communications like transaction alerts and OTP's. I also volunteered and got this brilliant opportunity to serve as a core panelist for a Diversity & Inclusion event at Amex called - "Hack the Gap", interviewing Women Small Business Owners based out of USA and brainstorming on how Amex can support them as a financial organization. Given my strong background of building software products, leading business initiatives and experience as a Software Engineer and Product Manager, I aim to pursue Technical Product Management roles in the future where I can lead designing innovative cool features from the scratch.
