Kavya K — Data Engineer

With over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering and Backend Development in the finance and automobile industries, I am actively seeking full-time roles in these fields. I recently graduated with a Master’s in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge (May 2024) and am immediately available to join. During my time with the Brokerage Team at TIAA Global Business Services, I played a key role in developing end-to-end ETL jobs for both on-premise and cloud data platforms, gaining expertise in PL/SQL, Python, relational and non-relational databases, ETL, data warehousing, and various AWS services. My work on AWS-hosted applications also gave me a deep understanding of two-tier microservice architectures, and technologies like Python, Scala, Snowflake, and AWS services including Lambda, CloudFormation, EC2, CloudWatch, Step Functions, S3, and DynamoDB. I also led a team of three developers on critical projects for PSA Groupe (now Stellantis), such as VP by VIN and BOM Pricer. I successfully completed the GTMS project, which was critical due to Brexit, by developing ETL jobs using DataStage and integrating data from various sources (CSV, Excel, relational tables, JSON) into Postgres databases. My work utilized tools such as DataStage, Oracle, PostGres, SQL Python, Shell Scripting. Beyond industry experience, I served as a Graduate Assistant for a National Science Foundation (NSF) research program focused on Energy Prediction for Automobile Air Conditioning Systems. I mentored two undergraduate students in machine learning techniques such as regression, data collection, preprocessing, and visualization using Python, TensorFlow, and Tableau. Currently, I work as a Backend Developer at PopVia, where I created the database schema for their task tracker web app and integrated MongoDB into the system.
