• On Thursday the 23rd of May 2019 I was voted in to be a member of the board of the Dutch Unix User Group Association NLUUG.
• We managed to implement a new identity for the NLUUG and we got the conferences back to pre corona numbers again.

• In the (Software Defined) Storage area we work with products like Compuverde, Open-E JovianDSS, OSNexus Quantastor and Linux based Open Storage based on ZFS.
• On the hardware side we have a preference for Intel Servers, AIC Computer systems, DataOn Storage (official distributor), Mellanox Switches and WD (HGST, SanDisk) enterprise storage devices.
• For hypervisors we can work with VMware, Citrix XenServer, Open source Xen, KVM or HypverV.

• Since 2000 ProcoliX is a full fledged Managed High Performance, High Availability Hosting company. Using the latest techniques in IT since the start, with a strong preference for Open Source Software but always on the lookout for practical solutions.
• In 2014 we moved from Delft to our own office in Dordrecht with lots of new space to grow. Our datacenter presence in Amsterdam is growing fast. ProcoliX IT Infrastructure is completely built, designed and managed by ProcoliX providing for a very flexible and optimal design.

• From 2000 until 2011 I called myself CEO of ProcoliX. It seemed to rightly signify my role within the organization. From 2011 till 2014 the role of CEO was delegated to Eelco Jepkema. After he left it seemed unneeded to change my title to CEO again. Owner is a fine title.

Sep 1996 – Nov 2006 · 10 yrs 2 mos

• I joined WL | Delft Hydraulics at a time when Windows for Workgroups was the standard PC operatingsystem and server infrastructure was still one-server one function. For example the primary domain name server (DNS) was a single HP-UX unix box with a whopping 128MB of memory. Ethernet to the workspace was still 10Mbit/s and the central fileservers had 40GB of storage. High Performance computing was being done on dedicated HP-UX Servers running highly hardware optimized code.
• At WL | Delft Hydraulics I have worked on several *nix systems, HP-UX, Solaris, IRIX, Linux, BSD, but also on Windows NT with Digital NT Cluster, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. And I have spend quite some time selecting and acquiring new infrastructure components for the company like Unix High Availability Clusters, Disk Storage and Tape Storage systems and to a lesser extent High Performance Computing systems.
• I started out as PC administrator, but quickly moved to Windows NT Sysadmin and from there to Innovation Officer and High Availability Unix Architect. The last few years I worked at WL | Delft Hydraulics I was mostly a consultant, helping the IT manager to make decisions on complex changes to the IT Infrastructure.
• When I left WL | Delft Hydraulics, central filers for scientific data, six dual node DRDB based clusters of them, each contained 24 times 1TB drives per box. Desktop PC's running Windows XP had 4GB of ram after being used for a while as part of a more than 100 node SMP linux cluster for High Performance computing running code optimized for parallel execution on generic Linux operating systems.
