  • Swirlds provides a platform to build and run shared worlds—fully distributed applications that harness the power of the cloud without servers. Applications built on the Swirlds platform create trust in peer-to-peer networks without a central server, while ensuring fairness, which is needed in auctions, markets, and multiplayer games. Leveraging the new hashgraph consensus algorithm (an alternative, superior approach to blockchain), the Swirlds platform enables developers to build applications that are fair, fast, secure and trusted. Bluewave security

Founder and CEO

Sep 2005Dec 2011 · 6 yrs 3 mos · Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area

  • Company acquired by JST Partners (a private equity firm), Dec. 2011.
  • Product Management / Product Development: Identified market need: TCP/IP-based physical security solutions. Designed, Developed, and Delivered two distinct hardware platforms (ultra-low-power Wi-Fi modem, and IP-door controllers for managed physical access control), and an Enterprise-class software application (traditional client server, SaaS, and cloud-based models).
  • Business and Sales Development: Built two independent sales channels (2-tier distribution through DataComm and Physical Security distributors, supported by BlueWave-managed regional sales rep agencies); established OEM relationships; acquired premier national accounts (e.g. Macy's, Bloomingdales, Ameripath, Ping, Otterbox, Hendrick's Motorsports, and many others). All accomplished without a single full-time sales associate on staff.
  • Operations: Managed an international supply chain, customer support desk, and product manufacturing
  • Customer Management: From the time I founded the company until the day I sold it, we secured hundreds of loyal customers, many of which were repeat customers, and none of which, to my knowledge, replaced our product with a competing product.
  • Recipient of the Frost & Sullivan 2008 Emerging Company of the Year award - "“…for its exceptional innovations in a market not traditionally recognized for its technological dynamism… BlueWave has set itself apart from established vendors and has emerged as the market leader.”
  • Recipient of the Frost & Sullivan 2008 Product Innovation Award - "Challenging the traditional access control architecture using proprietary and redundant wired or wireless networks, BlueWave has turned the industry on its head by embracing an open standards approach using Wi-Fi and Ethernet.”

Trio security, inc.

CEO and Founder

Sep 2002Jun 2004 · 1 yr 9 mos · Colorado Springs, Colorado

  • Acquired by Symbol Technologies (NYSE:SBL).
  • DEVELOPED ENTERPRISE-CLASS SECURITY (Single-Sign-On and Identity Management) SOLUTION FOR MOBILE DEVICES.
  • Trio developed a distributed single-sign-on solution using PDAs and smart phones as the security token. The user's credentials for all online accounts were encrypted and stored in the phone. The smart phone was then protected using 3-factor authentication: 1) What you know: a password, 2) What you have: a digital key, unknown to the user, and embedded in the device, and 3) What you are: a handwritten word or symbol on the screen of the phone. Trio used the "velocity profile" of the handwritten word as the biometrics component.
  • Once the user successfully authenticated to the phone, they would select the account (e.g., a website, computer, or network resource), and the smart phone then directly communicated with the PC, launched the appropriate website or resource, and authenticated the user to the website.
