While publishing my first sci-fi novel, Celestial Matrimony, I realized that there is a significant gap in the market for new-age authors who want to publish their work. Many talented writers struggle with the end-to-end publishing process from proofreading and design to marketing and launching their books. To address this gap, we came up with the idea of Bookeeda, a platform aimed at helping authors throughout the entire publishing journey. Our goal was to provide services such as proofreading, poster design, and support for book launch events essentially covering everything an author needs to successfully publish their work.
Out of more than 4,500 students, our idea was shortlisted for startup incubation in the February 2024 batch of the PIERC Entrepreneurship Cell at my university.
During this experience, I gained valuable exposure to many aspects of building a startup, including market analysis, understanding customer behavior, and the behind-the-scenes realities of entrepreneurship. It was an incredibly enriching journey.
However, due to financial constraints in my family and the absence of generational financial support, I had taken an education loan to complete my B.Tech. As the loan repayment period approached and with no financial backing available, I had to make the difficult decision to pause the startup and focus on securing a job to support my family.
That said, this experience only strengthened my entrepreneurial mindset. I intend to return to building impactful products in the future especially SaaS solutions that can challenge the current landscape and contribute to pushing India’s technology ecosystem forward.
