Gitkraken

Chief Executive Officer

Sep 2021Present · 4 yrs 8 mos · Scottsdale, Arizona, United States

  • I caught my breath after a pair of successful exits, and met GitKraken. I immediately fell in love with the potential of the company. What drew me in?
  • The traction: 30M+ developers from 100K orgs rely on our suite of tools to make Git work better
  • The model: I love the low touch of a pure PLG company in which Product & Marketing have to win the day
  • The market: it's awesome to help developers create great products. If software is "eating the world", I want to help the authors of our future create safe, delightful things
  • The stage: we're growing fast, sustainably & profitably, making acquisitions, and growing the team
  • The people: most importantly, this team is amazing - sharp, loyal, driven, creative, hungry & humble. They make this chapter a lot of fun.
  • My job is to listen & learn, shape our culture, chart our North Star, and ensure these amazing people have what they need (resources, clarity, ownership) to do phenomenal things

Sabbatical to Recalibrate & Recharge

  • Led the post-M&A integration of Mautic, as the core of Acquia's marketing cloud, including:
  • The rollout of employee training (for Mautic sales, CS, marketing and technical teams)
  • The creation of Mautic pitch, product & pricing information to Acquia sales & CS teams
  • Process documentation
  • Product integrations
  • Creating RFP responses & pitch decks for Mautic solutions
  • Educating Acquia finance & accounting leaders on Mautic pricing, cost structure & margins
  • My role also included serving as the executive sponsor for key Mautic clients and partners to ensure a seamless transition for them after our acquisition.

  • After more than a decade of building marketing teams, brands & tech stacks, I joined the founding team of Mautic as CEO & Co-founder. We created the world's only Open Marketing Cloud, enabling companies to orchestrate a personalized experience across all digital properties (website, e-commerce, mobile apps), and across all communication channels (emails, social, SMS, mobile alerts).
  • Much of my focus was on our early customers, partners and our go-to-market motion. We very intentionally aligned our customer-facing efforts in marketing, sales, partners and customer success to enable Mautic to create a high-quality, seamless customer journey. This enabled us to effectively and scalably serve lean startups, all the way up to massive global enterprises.
  • We quickly grew the company from pre-revenue to seven-figure ARR, and successfully identified our ideal customer profile. After achieving product-market fit, and building a stable of impressive early clients, we ultimately decided the best path forward for the Mautic team & products was to join forces with Acquia, another company that uses open source roots to serve mid-market and enterprise brands.

  • Since joining as employee #8, I led Applause's global marketing efforts, shaping our brand, building awareness, generating demand and creating a world-class community.
  • In 2011, I led the creation of the company's expansion strategy into new types of software testing (security, usability, load and localization), and also led a successful and comprehensive re-brand of the company's skin and voice. This re-brand process included developing a creative brief, publishing the RFP, selecting a top agency, managing the project, and ultimately being responsible for the final deliverables.

E-Commerce Product Manager and R&D Program Manager

Oct 1997Feb 2005 · 7 yrs 4 mos

  • I helped launch and grow RED, the e-commerce division of Herman Miller that catered directly to consumers and SMBs. We grew our annual revenue into low-to-mid eight figures, and I was responsible for leading the site's design and development, as well as owning the product roadmap for our digital commerce site.
  • I then joined Herman Miller's R&D division to research emerging technologies, and defined the best way to take new products to market (selling channel, packaging, pricing model, positioning).
