About

I almost didn't become a CTO. I grew up in Karachi with one dream: Build something of my own. Tried a few startups in university. All failed. So in 2010, I packed my bags and moved to Munich to study Power Engineering at Technical University of Munich... with a plan to go back and build a solar company in Pakistan. That plan never happened. Instead, I ended up spending 15 years in Germany. I became a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute, working alongside BMW, Daimler, LG Chem, MIT, Stanford, and Oxford on energy storage systems. I was at the frontier of a technology that was supposed to change the world. Then in 2015, I saw something more important coming. AI. I pivoted completely. Taught myself. Did 12+ courses. Became an AIoT Solutions Architect at Arrow Electronics, then Lead for AI and Computer Vision at TD Synnex — deploying AI across retail, manufacturing, and finance for some of Europe's biggest organizations. A decade of turning AI from a buzzword into actual ROI. Along the way, I met Adam and Fernando. We were colleagues. Different countries, same team. Adam came to me with an idea. I told him it was technically possible. We left our jobs. We started Dost. The mission: build an AI that handles the repetitive, mundane tasks in finance — so humans can focus on what actually matters. Four years later, 200+ clients across Spain, UK, US, and South America. Eight months ago, I moved to Dubai. Best decision I've made. The intersection of AI and finance here isn't a trend... it's a government priority. I spend my time with CFOs and finance leaders trying to understand how AI is reshaping their world. That's what I write about here. AI. Finance. Building products that non-technical people actually love using. And occasionally... life as a co-founder with a 4-year-old daughter who keeps everything in perspective. If you're a finance leader, a founder, or a builder... I think we'll have a lot to talk about.
