About

Paul has driven digital transformation within industrial operations for decades. Starting his career at General Motors in the assembly division, he held P&L responsibility for facilities in all manufacturing modes. In the mid-90’s, Paul led the trend of deployment of technology within manufacturing as a senior consultant with one of the largest MES integration firms – powered by concepts we now call the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). A CIO for a successful technology start-up, he later joined Lighthammer, acquired by SAP. The dynamic force behind the Perfect Plant initiatives at SAP, he led efforts in the area of advanced manufacturing and ops mobility globally, driving digital transformation. As CIO of Advanced Manufacturing Strategy, he drove GE's brilliant factory strategy - big data, software, sensors, controllers and robotics combined with lean principles to increase productivity and asset and operations optimization. As Site Leader of the AMSTC, one of GE's largest IT tech centers globally and a critical hub for IT and manufacturing initiatives, he launched GE's Brilliant Factory Lab, an incubation space for integrated, next-gen solutions encompassing a wide variety of technologies defining the ecosystem. As Head of Manufacturing Industries for GE Digital, he drove the commercial strategy for Brilliant Manufacturing, and sat on GE’s Supply Chain Council. As COO of Vuzix, a provider of wearable computing solutions, Paul led the transformation of the engineer-founded company and was recognized as a global leader on the topic of Augmented Reality for industrial and field use. This work began years prior at SAP. He launched SaaS products and dramatically expanded both sales and partner channels. While President & COO of AI/ML startup, Praemo, he was responsible for all phases of business including product and market strategies, sales, and team growth. Funded by McRock, BDC and Caterpillar, Praemo focused on exploiting existing data and utilizing advanced tools like AI to drive industrial performance. Most recently, consulting with medical device startups and compliant manufacturers, he's applied tools like machine learning and artificial intelligence to plant and enterprise systems to drive next level performance. An advisor to startups in complex medical devices, advanced robotics, machine learning and AI space, Paul is often asked to speak on the topics of IIoT, Industry X.0 trends and technologies as well as digital transformation.

  • As the brain drain continues for industrial operations and the skills gap widens, few technologies have the opportunity to deliver a larger impact with lower risk than tools like Wearable Computing and Augmented Reality when coupled with Cloud and AI. But for all the opportunity, adoption lags significantly because so few have the ability to translate these tools into sustainable and repeatable gains.
  • AR4I – Augmented Reality for Industry – will drive pragmatic, valuable solutions for Industry and Field Service providers and operators utilizing the existing ecosystem of tools and providers. It’s time to kill the academic experiment that fails to deliver any sustainable value.
