• Working as a part of Analysts’ Workflows team. We maintain a Data Lake and provide a self-service infrastructure for analyses (ELT) which supports batch ingestions, retrievals and publications to downstream data sources used for publishing Bloomberg news stories, articles, research, etc. Our platform supports major groups of analysts in Bloomberg including News and Data Journalism, Business Intelligence (BI), Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) and Bloomberg Economics (BECO).
• Our Data Lake is:
• Built on top of Hive and Iceberg tables stored in an S3 storage.
• Provides APIs and connectors to retrieve data and analyze it with tools such as Pandas, Polars, Spark, Trino, and MATLAB and BI tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and Tableau.
• Supports running analysis jobs and ML models on schedule OR via triggers on Kubernetes clusters scheduled using Apache Airflow (https://airflow.apache.org/).
• Supports Data Retrieval and Federation via Trino (https://trino.io/).
• Supports Data Analysis (prototyping/dashboarding) on Apache Superset (https://superset.apache.org/).
• Supports Data Discovery and Data Cataloging with Openmetadata (https://open-metadata.org/).
• Supports Data Governance using Apache Ranger (https://ranger.apache.org/) and Open Policy Agent (https://www.openpolicyagent.org/).
