• In my tenure at the Information Sciences Institute, I had the privilege of serving as a Research Intern under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Premkumar Natarajan. During that period, my focus was on the intriguing realm of Neural Abstract Generation. The challenge was captivating: crafting articulate and diverse abstracts from given titles and contexts.
• Our primary pursuit was centered around the generation of scientific abstracts. I embarked on this journey with extensive literature reviews and the creation of initial Attention-based baselines. As time progressed, I delved deeper into the project, spearheading novel architectural enhancements for a Sequence-to-Sequence model tailored specifically for abstract generation—the Writing Editing Network.
• This was a transformative phase in my career, offering invaluable insights into the nuances of advanced research and the complexities of neural generation systems. The experiences and knowledge gained during this period continue to shape my trajectory as an engineer today.

• As a former student worker, I contributed significantly under Prof. Premkumar Natarajan's mentorship. Our journey began with pioneering research in Neural Query-based Abstractive Text Summarization. My deep dive into Deep Learning unveiled the intricacies of Feed Forward Neural Networks, along with insights into RNNs, LSTMs, and CNNs.
• My role extended to conducting extensive literature surveys and successfully implementing the Neural Attention Model for Abstractive Summarization (NAMAS) by Facebook. With this foundation, I embarked on Neural Abstract Generation, employing Seq2Seq modeling. This phase involved curating a dataset of 30,000 abstracts from diverse domains, such as Computer Vision, NLP, Linguistics, and Machine Learning, and initiating baseline experiments. These experiences were nurtured throughout my summer internship, fostering a valuable skill set and a profound understanding of deep learning models and architectures.

• I was a technical writer for the largest tech publication on Medium, freeCodeCamp. Writing is something that comes naturally to me and my ultimate focus with any write-up is to structure it in a way so that even a layman can understand it.

• Implemented batching logic for updating a user's last activity time which reduced the number of database calls from 72k to just 4k per second.
• Reported and rectified the last seen time-related problem. Used Redis and Lua to consolidate last seen related data and thus removed the problem altogether and also ended up getting a redundant data store decommissioned.
• Boosted the backend infrastructure for Group Messaging. I shifted it from a slightly lesser optimal model that caused slow Mongo sync problem to a more efficient one.
• Orchestrated setting up of a PreProduction environment suitable for load testing purposes before production deployment. The environment lead to a reduction in scaling issues on production bugs by a factor of 3.
• Investigated and Tested HAProxy's tuning configuration for using multiple cores and SSL support as well. Achieved 2.4 million concurrent connections on a single HAProxy's instance with 16 cores. This lead to reducing the size of the production HAProxy's cluster by a factor of 3.

• Accelerated the team's feature shipping timelines by a factor of 2 by setting up a Docker environment which helped developers test their code thoroughly before pushing it to staging and further up the pipeline.
• Programmed a messaging proxy solution from scratch that would prevent dropping of user connections on server restarts thus improving end user experience and providing seamless deployments of server components.
