  • As an Associate Software Engineer at Astera I worked on DataPrep, a desktop ETL product used by international enterprise customers to clean, transform, and prepare large datasets for analytics and downstream pipelines. I contributed across the product lifecycle — from feature design and implementation to QA collaboration and documentation — with a strong focus on usability and developer experience for data teams.
  • A major area of my work was ATL (Astera Transformation Language) — an in-house, scriptable DSL designed to simplify ETL tasks. I helped design and extend ATL (60+ transformation commands) and built editor features such as intellisense to make scripting faster and less error-prone. ATL supports common operations like reading/writing, sorting, metadata modification, cleaning, joins, unions, and updates; my work made these operations easier to compose and debug for both analysts and engineers.
  • On the UI side I implemented the data preview & visualization grid, enabling users to inspect data health and transformation results before committing changes, and I built configurable panels and navigation that map visual controls to ATL commands so users can modify transformation options through the UI and see the script update in real time. I partnered closely with Product Managers, QA, and other engineers to ship polished features, and recently focused on integrating AI-assisted capabilities to simplify common workflows and improve discovery for end users.
