  • System Engineer with the National Flood Insurance Program. System owner of the DHS/FEMA Pivot system. Pivot is the system of record for the NFIP validating 5 million customers flood insurance policies and claims. Pivot utilizes the SAFe methodology to manage 13 scrum teams that maintain over fifteen modules and six major applications. . I am the product owner for four of the scrum teams overseeing : cyber security, infrastructure/integration, governance, and interfaces/authentication.
  • Pivot met its initial operating capability in March 2018 and then completed its procurement by meeting DHS ADE-3 gate to move to Operations and Maintenance on time and under budget on September 30, 2020.
  • Cyber security: Oversee the work of three full time ISSO's and a small SOC team who are embedded within each application team, ATO reviews, audits, and technology analysis. Worked with the DHS operational test agents to successfully pass three cooperative vulnerability penetration assessments, two cyber table tops, and an adversarial assessment. Work also included building out Datadog and Splunk for system health and security monitoring.
  • Infrastructure: Responsible for helping oversee the design and development of the infrastructure and security of the overall system. This includes reviewing VLAN configuration, VM setup, security tools, DNS work, and the CI/CD pipeline and its tools. The systems platform and integration teams are currently planning the upgrade to OpenShift 4.6 & CoreOS. The application teams and DevOps engineers are working to break down applications into microservices and automate more testing in the CI/CD pipeline to allow for more deployments.
  • Product owner for Pivot's interfaces and authentication team which is responsible for authenticating external and internal users. The team ensures multi-factor authentication for insurance companies and state emergency managers and single-sign-on for internal staff and contractors.

These contracts support research for the division as well as office support and special projects. Technical/program monitor for another six IT contracts totaling near $1.3 million. Monitor contract budgets for over and under burn. Monitor division spend plan to ensure funds available for contracts.
  • Oversees the work of contracts which provide a wide array of services and products to the division. Products include scientific research of protective actions during disasters that result in how to prepare guides that are used by U.S. citizens to prepare prior to a disaster. The contract also produces playbooks which give guidance on how to conduct exercises and drills for individuals and organizations at the local and state level. The contract also conducts evaluations to determine whether the materials are having the desired outcome of making citizens more prepared and resilient. As COR, I review all major projects and tasks to ensure they are within scope and within budget. I work with the federal program managers to ensure that the products are high quality and that they meet the objectives of the task.

  • I was responsible for managing the technical reference model (TRM). This included reviewing new software and hardware requests, coordianting with IT Security, Infrastructure, and 508 compliance etc.. I also coordinate adding new software to the TRM with DHS Enterprise Architecture.
  • I worked with several contractors to analyze and update the TRM. We removed outdated and unused software and updated names to reflect the current manufacturers. We also eliminated duplications within the TRM.
  • The contractors and I also worked on creating a more friendly and usable EA webpage for searching the TRM using SharePoint.

  • Worked under a senior modeling architect using Troux Architect. I collected data, formatted the data, and imported it into the architect tool.
