I'm trying to bring focus, speed and agility to Indian education at scale. A bit of that comes from years in the Indian Navy, flying with frontline squadrons and later training other pilots. More of it I've learned in the years since. IIM-A in between. Then Genpact, leading global delivery for Fortune 500 companies. Flightrule, building cadet pilot training as a COO. And for the last five years at Sunstone — building academic and placement operations from scratch, and now leading student outcomes for 10,000+ learners across 25+ campuses. What I've taken from cockpits, corporate floors, and classrooms is the same thing: people matter more than the systems you build. The frameworks matter, the dashboards matter, the SOPs matter — but none of them survives contact with reality unless the people running them have been built well. So I write here three days a week. About both — the operations craft and the people work. Stories from leading large teams: frontline squadrons, Genpact ops floors, the campuses I work across now. Mostly, the moments I got things wrong, and what I learned about people while I was doing it. Frameworks that survived contact with reality, not the ones from books. The decisions I'd undo. The numbers I watch on Monday morning. The pre-mortem I run every quarter has saved me twice. And once a month, a chapter from a long essay I've been writing on Indian education. The first piece is on the Gurukul system — what it actually got right, beyond the romantic version. The full series will run 12-15 chapters: from there to today, with detours into the very different bets China, Vietnam and Indonesia made on primary education.
