• Delivered vSAN+, announced in VM Explore 2022. vSAN+ transforms on prem business from perpetually licensed software to SaaS and subscription, connects on prem infrastructure to Cloud, brings the benefits of Cloud to private data centers, and addressed customer’s biggest pain point of operating on prem infrastructure. vSAN+ wins CRN's 2022 Products of the Year award.
• Enabled NFS based external storage service for VMware Cloud on AWS. Highly desired by customers and partners with storage heavy workloads. Storage is paid by consumption. Reduced 60% TCO for large data lake, 20% TCO for database and 25% TCO for DRaaS workloads. Expanded VMware Cloud TAM by 4.5X to ~$2B.
• Improved vSphere storage control plane performance by 10X, to support 10K container deployment per hour.
• Built the business case to enable vSphere running on Google persistent disks. Solution is under development and is expected to attract 5-10X more storage heavy workloads to Google Cloud VMware Engine.

• Led 80 engineers in Palo Alto, Boston and Bangalore. Recruited 60% team members. Transformed a product development team to service team. Team received Simplicity and Quality Champion Award. Established quarterly planning process. Co-designed storage engineering team’s promotion process. Established 24x7 global service support process.
• Delivered 11 quarterly based milestone releases for VMware Cloud on AWS with flagship storage features. Storage consumption is expanded from 500 to 13000+ hosts.
• Delivered Cloud Native Storage solution, announced in 2019 VMworld. The solution enables IBM OpenShift, Google Anthos, VMware Tanzu K8S container workloads running on vSphere storage platform. The solution is consumed by 5000+ vSphere customers.
• Delivered storage platform for Project Pacific, announced in 2019 VMworld main stage by VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger. VMware leveraged K8S to rearchitect vSphere and extended its capabilities to modern applications. Project Pacific transforms vSphere into application platform. 1400+ customers adopted this solution.
• Delivered Elastic vSAN service, announced in 2018 VMworld main stage by AWS CEO Andy Jassy. Elastic vSAN provides storage and compute disaggregated solution for VMware Cloud on AWS.
• Delivered vSAN Data Persistence platform, announced in VMworld 2020. vDPp enables modern stateful services running on vSphere storage platform. Platform is consumed by Dell Object Scale, MinIO and Cloudian.

• Led a global vCenter server appliance team of 30 engineers. Team received VMware Top Talent Award granted by CEO Pat Gelsinger. Responsible for embedded PostgreSQL database, high availability and disaster recovery solutions, appliance management and monitoring, life cycle and configuration management, and logging solutions.
• Achieved appliance feature and performance parity with Windows vCenter by delivering native HA and backup solutions, unified update and patching, build-in appliance and database monitoring. Successfully deprecated Windows vCenter server, and achieved win-win outcome for both customers and VMware.

• vSphere 6.0: responsible for vCenter appliance deployment, and component integration for both vCenter Windows and appliance. Successfully integrated 20+ services for both vCenter Windows and appliance, and various deployment models.

• Led several junior engineers in Database Kernel team. Worked on projects to support Oracle Data Guard, high availability, and disaster recovery. Developed pluggable database feature to support multi-tenant use cases. Developed co-existence of read-write and read-only database instances feature for Oracle Real Application Cluster.

• Developed a new type of database recovery technique - Active Data Guard instance recovery. Dramatically improved Active Data Guard availability by avoiding time consuming standby database instantiation process.

• Enabled Oracle database running on advanced format 4KB sector hard disks and flash drives for better space efficiency.
• Improved database recovery performance 4X by using asynchronous read ahead engine, distributing CPU work to multiple parsing slaves, and enhancing log archiving speed.

• Improved database recovery performance 2X by optimizing reading redo directly from in-memory log buffer.
• Created physical standby statspack to gather performance data on Oracle Active Data Guard. Statspack dramatically simplified standby database management and monitoring.
