• Built the Chat feature from scratch using React, which allowed real-time communication between applicants and employers at Internshala, and incorporated it into a PHP backend using Pushpin, a reverse proxy.
• Researched and found an opportunity to enable caching in the backend to save processing time spent on parsing annotations, resulting in a 300% improvement in server performance, by creating a cache for annotations using memcached.
• Identified the need for and enabled GZIP, reducing SVG image size by 1/3rd across the platform.
• Identified the need for and implemented variable font, resulting in a 30% reduction of the font file resources.
• Researched the requirements and used Elasticsearch to speed up searching names in the Chat feature.
• Developed various major product changes, involving the use of React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Bash, Gulp and more.
• Lead and mentored a team of ~5 software engineers to build awesome products using cutting edge technologies, including modularizing code, using React with Vite, TypeScript and introducing it to an existing JS-based React codebase, and much more.
