• Took a breather between jobs and turned it into a freelance chapter. Wrote brand films, pitched ideas for brands that needed a creative brain without the full-time commitment. Also made pottery. Don’t ask.

• Walked in to build a creative department from scratch. Walked out having built a team of weirdos who made a phone brand actually interesting on the internet. Campaigns, films, launches, influencer chaos. The kind of role where you do everything and your job description catches up later.

• Ran brand and creative for coupon/affiliate sites and somehow made it cool. Handled everything from social to performance to influencer to UX. The kind of job where you’re the strategist, the writer, the creative director and the person arguing with the design team about kerning. All at once.

• My proper agency stint. VIVO, McCormick, HCL Music, iQOO, HCCB. Wrote campaigns, pitched new business, scripted films, led copy teams. Learned from the best. And that the best ideas usually survive three rounds of client feedback. Rarely though.

• Nasscom, NITI Aayog, Swacch Bharat, POGO. Government and kids’ TV in the same portfolio. Wrote everything from digital campaigns to video scripts to search ads. First real job where I got to call myself a senior anything and mean it.

• Adani Foundation, Ambuja Neotia, Aayna Clinic, Fortis, Colorbar. Led a small copy team. Wrote campaigns, managed output, tried to make healthcare advertising feel less like a hospital brochure. Partially succeeded.

• Four years of writing for anyone who’d pay me to. Indie authors, local brands, websites, blogs, banner ads. No creative director to report to. No brief. Just the client, blank page and a deadline. This is where I learned to find a voice for other people before I found my own.
• Also made pottery, spun fire, learnt Tarot & Reiki on the side. Because why not.

• Dell, Elsevier, McGraw-Hill. Before I wrote ads, I edited medical journals and MBA textbooks. Two years of obsessing over precision, structure and clarity. Not glamorous. But every sharp headline I’ve written since started here. You can’t break the rules of writing well until you’ve spent a few years following them.

• My first job. Built a Hollywood movie database for Sony Movies IQ TV. Spent 11 months cataloguing trivia about actors and films. Basically got paid to be a movie nerd. Not a bad way to start.
