About

Growing up in a Maoist-affected, rural, backward Indian district, I didn’t have access to quality education. However, the internet empowered me, enabling me to carve out a career path amidst ambiguity. Therefore, right from high-school, I wanted to be a value creator by expanding its outreach. At IIT Bombay, where I studied wireless communication and signal processing, I discovered my passion for deep-tech. As a student AI researcher, I developed a deep understanding of machine learning and artificial neural networks. My master’s thesis, which explored the intersection of deep learning, computer vision, and image processing, was published at a prestigious IEEE conference. My fascination with big data also led me to undertake several data analysis projects. After graduation, since mobile connectivity was my calling, I joined the modem R&D division at Qualcomm. There, I contributed to the design of several pioneering 4G and 5G chips, including the Snapdragon 4Gen2, which powers one of India’s most affordable 5G phones at around $135. This experience deepened my understanding of both the hardware and software aspects of deep-tech products. Working in the core team leading Qualcomm Hyderabad’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, I facilitated the use of technology to drive large-scale impact. This experience fuelled my desire to transition from an individual contributor to a leadership role. Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed the 9-month long product management certification course under Prof. Mohan Sawhney, which provided me with valuable insights into the business side of technology products. Now, utilising my Yale MBA, I aspire to build on my engineering experience and transition into a technology leadership role, where I can continue to drive innovation and touch lives on a wide scale.

  • # Responsibilities: Design and develop software drivers for next-generation Bluetooth based IoT devices. Perform basic validation, fix issues reported by internal test team, aid commercialisation, and resolve field reported issues for existing and upcoming deployments
  • # Challenges: I wasn't exposed to Bluetooth protocol and the coding language 'C' before. Developing a working understanding of the ~500 pages spec sheet, the coding language, and legacy code spreading over 1000s of lines in just 3-4 weeks, was intense and exciting
  • # Impact: Finished design & development of 2 software drivers (only 1 was expected of me) before the planned deadline. In the remaining time, took initiative by teaming up with test team to automate the entire test suite, expediting future development significantly
  • # Outcome: Was awarded a Pre-placement interview in 2019
