• Implemented a scalable messaging system using AWS SQS (Simple Queue Service) to enable faster data flow across relevant microservices. This multi-queue setup ensured less than 1% failure (message drop) rate and faster sync (40-50ms) times across multiple data sources.
• Developed the microservice responsible for extracting tags and evaluating sentiments from review text in real-time. Given its role in the system, the service needed to be just as performant as it was reliable, which meant the service could handle the load as high as 1.5K-2K read requests per second with response times as low as 80-120ms.
• Set up a multi-node ElasticSearch cluster spanning multiple zones. After multiple refinements, we were finally able to support reads and writes, as high as 1.5K and 100 requests per second, respectively.
• Developed the data schema to support a wide range of search and compute-intensive aggregation queries on a data set of 40-50 million reviews.
• Redesigned the reviews platform for supporting partial review updates and higher (100-150) writes per second

• A notification library using Redis was developed, with the sole purpose of implementing a pub-sub messaging paradigm. Augmenting it with a custom rule engine allowed us to change the order of messages based on certain criteria.
• To support faster inventory reads, we refined the batch processing module that pre-fetched inventories periodically. The run times of the scripts were brought down significantly (40%), which eventually helped with smaller data refresh cycles.
• With better caching mechanisms, calls made out to the 3rd party services were also reduced by 30%. Better thread management and CPU utilisation saw close to a million cascading tasks finish in (60% decrease) 2-3 hours.
