Kris De Decker — Founder
Following a decade long career as a science and tech journalist for Belgian media, I founded Low-tech Magazine when I moved to Spain in 2007. Published online and offline in English and other languages, Low-tech Magazine underscores the potential of past and often forgotten technologies and how they can inform sustainable energy practices. Since 2018, the website runs on a solar panel and goes offline during bad weather. Since 2019 the magazine also appears in print. https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com/offline-reading.html Together with Melle Smets, I am the co-creator of the Human Power Plant, an artistic project that investigates the possibilities of human energy production in a modern society. Since 2017. https://www.humanpowerplant.be I worked together with Elizabeth Shove at The Demand Centre at Lancaster University (UK), an academic research project focused on energy demand as an outcome of social practices. 2016 - 2019. https://www.demand.ac.uk
