Kapil Madhan — Operations Associate
“About” column on LinkedIn: What is one suggested/expected to write? - Years of experience, skills, achievements, previous job experiences etc. What have I written instead? - How am I as an individual, what do I like/dislike and what is my thought process. If we were to ever speak about a job I would anyway talk about my career journey, experiences, growth etc, but I may not be asked about "How am I as an individual" - So I'm using this forum to put it out there in a few pointers: > I’m not a social media guy, yet I'm very social. I can go to public park and play Football, Frisbee with random strangers and move on when the game is over. I consider LinkedIn a social media platform as well, which explains why I hardly post anything on my wall. > Expanding on the first one... I'm a guy who likes to live and capture moments through my own eyes and not through the lenses of a camera. Till this date I don’t have an Insta account, and I probably would never make one. In fact, I’m a big critic of some of these platforms which are rewiring our societies and making us feel more and more insecure about ourselves. > Although I have to use it extensively in my work, I’m not a fan of diplomacy. I prefer to have candid conversations. > I admire craftmanship in things like ‘a mechanical watch’. That means I’m not a fan of smartwatches. A topic in itself, won’t elaborate it further here. > Like every other Indian, I too like to watch and play cricket. However, unlike most of my compatriots, I admire Test cricket only, and consider T20 nothing but a showbiz. > I’m not a backpacker, but I do like to travel as and when my personal finances allow me to. > When I’m with like-minded individuals, I enjoy having deep talks on scientific ideas, philosophical concepts and thought experiments: Fermi Paradox, Minimalism and Ship of Theseus are few such concepts. I have immense respect for Indian Mythology as well. > What else… Well, I like the metric system and find the other alternatives as illogical. A seemly random point, I know. I think this is a good enough info. about me. If you have read this far, I’m going to end this column with a work-related aspect of mine. it’s LinkedIn after all. >> When it comes to work, I love to keep things clean and simple. I consider myself as an organized and a meticulous individual. Someone who loves to maintain a clean desktop and clean inbox, a well-planned to-do list, and someone who likes to stay on top of his professional projects. Thank you for your interest in knowing about me 😊
