• Responsible for reducing VAT friction in EU for our Selling partners. Incubated and built a new product for VAT Registration, VAT Filing and VAT monitoring and compliance.

• I built a large product development and operations team delivering many innovations across Transportation – Shipment Tracking and Delivery Experience, Address and Geocode Services, Self-Serve Carrier Management Services, Sortation Services, Labelling, Manifesting, Alternate Delivery Services(‘I Have Space’), Inbound planning and Easy Ship. I owned both order and fulfillment facing tier-1 services. I re-architected to simplify many existing services, drove fundamental customer experience changes and incubated new ideas from the remote location. My customers included Consumers, Vendors, Carriers, Delivery associates, Space owners and our Operations teams. Our innovations resulted in disruptive improvements to both customer experience and multi-million-dollar Transportation cost savings. My teams were distributed across India and China.

• I bootstrapped and established the vision for a remote development center for Amazon at Hyderabad for all of Operations technology – Transportation, Fulfillment systems, Customer Service, Ordering and Customer returns. This meant influencing and leading across multiple VP organizations, who were new to remote product development. I negotiated and created a vision for a fully owned charter for each of the teams. I also focused building key mechanisms to help a remote development center sustain and scale to deliver innovation for our customers world wide. This included partnering with top Tech-Schools and B-Schools to create brand(Speed Geeking, ACE Case Competition), collaborative research and mechanisms to recruit top talent, partnering with industry associations( 3 Industry Recognitions) and government, launching leadership programs in B-Schools( Pathways and BOLD), inculcated global best practices and built local mechanisms (India Tech Conference, Srujan – Hackathon for India SDEs). I established and led the India Leadership Team to bring all the different verticals together to solve the common challenges in scaling a new remote center and drive the strategy and vision for India development center. I also helped hire the senior leaders for all our support functions(HR, Facilities, IT Support and Recruiting) in India.

I performed a Technology strategy and advisory role working with the heads of business and CIO office to drive the transformation of legacy infrastructure to Service oriented architecture (SOA)

• I was the head of software product development for Classwell online which focused on delivering standards based curriculum integrated with online assessments for K-12 market. I inherited a cross functional team which had missed delivery of the product multiple times, resulting in lack of trust internally. I successfully turned it around and delivered additional products for e-books, e-planner and Educational Standards correlation service. Classwell was acquired by Houghton and became the platform for their online products supporting their print sales.

• Suppliermarket.com, was an early stage start-up which helped buyer’s source direct materials using a reverse auction model. I led their integration strategies with other complementary partner companies to drive stickiness and traffic to their sourcing website. Partnered with industry consortiums like Open Application Group (OAG) to influence the XML standard for RFQ (Request for quote). Built the platform to exchange XML based documents with partner sites and applications. I was part of the due diligence process which resulted in Ariba acquiring SupplierMarket.com

• I was initially part of an early-stage 3 member team to develop Epsilon’s Campaign Manager. I designed and architected the product and helped sell to our first customer. I transitioned to a leadership role and built a full-fledged product organization comprising of software development, implementation services, user training and Technical support. Over the next two years, Epsilon campaign manager was adopted by many of the Fortune 500 customers (25) and was consistently rated as a leader in Gartner’s magic quadrant for Marketing Campaign Management products

• I was part of the early stage team funded by Citicorp to build a brand new Retail banking product for global customers using a distributed scalable architecture. I worked on multiple modules including Term loans, Savings and checking and built this product on fault tolerant platform (Stratus) using C and RDBMS. I was also part of pre-sales team which visited the beta customers in Indonesia and Australia. This product became successful in the Asian and African markets and a few years ago Oracle acquired them and it has become part of their financial services product suite.
