About

Parikshit (PC) currently leads two critical charters at MakeMyTrip: 1. B2B2C - Travel Agent Business – focused on scaling a key distribution channel that supports both established and new-age travel agents. The aim is to empower agents across India with technology, insights, and the strength of the MMT brand — making travel deeply rooted and widely accessible. 2. Customer Experience (CX) – driving CX transformation across MakeMyTrip and Goibibo using Generative AI and automation, with a sharp focus on improving customer satisfaction while optimizing service costs. ⸻ Built the Alternative Accommodations business: In 24 months, PC scaled MakeMyTrip’s Alternative Accommodations business — covering Homestays, Villas, Apartments, and Hostels — into a profitable and fast-growing vertical. He built the supply base, unlocked demand, and aligned the product with the rising preference for private, flexible stays before handing it over to the next leader. ⸻ Transforming Ground Transport Previously, he led MakeMyTrip’s Ground Transport portfolio, overseeing Rail, Bus, Metro, and Cabs. During the pandemic, he drove a shift towards profitability by launching innovations like Rails Trip Guarantee, contactless travel, and hygiene feedback loops — turning the business EBITDA positive in FY22–23. ⸻ Scaling Goibibo’s Hotels Business At Goibibo, PC was instrumental in building the Hotels business. He drove a P&L-based approach, optimized margins and pricing, and scaled the team — earning the Dream Leader Award in 2015. ⸻ Leadership Recognitions Post the Goibibo–MakeMyTrip merger, he led the integration of seller-facing tech and teams, delivering 50% YoY top-line growth. This success was acknowledged at the MakeMyTrip Townhall in 2017. In 2024, his CX leadership was again recognised at the MakeMyTrip town hall, as his team delivered early wins in AI-led service transformation. ⸻ A Career of Building and Scaling With two decades across GE, MRF Tyres, MagicBricks, Goibibo, MakeMyTrip, and RedBus, PC is known for scaling businesses, managing complex P&Ls, and driving product innovation with customer obsession at the core.

Chief Business Officer - Ground Transport (Makemytrip, Goibibo) & redRail, rYde (redBus)

Jul 2021Mar 2023 · 1 yr 8 mos

  • redBus set out to become a Ground Transport super app by expanding its offering beyond bus ticketing to include rail ticketing and cab hiring. Parikshit, with his knack for scaling businesses from 0 to 1, led this transformation in India. Working in stealth mode for six months, he built a team from the ground up to launch the initial versions of redRail and rYde across the redBus app, mobile web, and desktop platforms.
  • redRail quickly gained traction, with over 2.8 million downloads and an impressive average app rating of 4.3 by April 2023, fueled by the rapid growth of internet usage in India and increasing adoption by users from smaller towns and villages, many of whom were non-English speakers.
  • In addition to his work with redBus, Parikshit continued his leadership of the Ground Transport Strategic Business Unit (SBU) for MakeMyTrip and Goibibo. Under his guidance, the SBU became EBITDA positive, generating nearly $20 million in annual revenue and contributing to 30% of new user transactions on both platforms in FY22-23.

Chief Business Officer - Ground Transport SBU : MakeMyTrip, Goibibo

Apr 2019Jun 2021 · 2 yrs 2 mos

  • After successfully building the hotels business for Goibibo and orchestrating its merger with MakeMyTrip, Parikshit took on the challenge of developing the Ground Transportation (GT) business across both MakeMyTrip and Goibibo brands. This included Rail, Bus, Metro, Airport Cabs, Self-Drive Cars, and Intercity Cabs. With full P&L responsibility for this exciting growth category, he led Product, Revenue, Category, and Supply functions directly, while overseeing Technology in a dotted-line capacity.
  • The GT business experienced strong growth, with the top line increasing by over 100% in 2019, alongside significant revenue improvements that positively impacted the bottom line. The category also attracted a large influx of new users to both platforms.
  • When COVID-19 significantly disrupted businesses, Parikshit reimagined the entire GT business model with a sharper focus on profitability. He led a series of major product development initiatives to meet the evolving consumer needs, such as hygiene and safety feedback loops, contactless travel experiences, and seamless post-booking self-serve options. Working closely with his team, he ensured that all GT businesses achieved positive unit economics. These efforts successfully brought back consumers, and the business became EBITDA positive in Q1 of 2021.
