• Development of Python based software involving electro-magnetic simulations to determine the optical properties of quantum cascade semiconductor lasers (QCL) (waveguide mode analysis, dispersion calculation, Kramer Kronig implementation).
• Experimental characterization of optical multi-pass cell using quantum cascade lasers (QCL) for trace gas sensing.
• Characterization of QCL optical frequency-comb using FTIR. This includes performance and stability determination, high-reflection coating characterization, beatnote analysis using spectrum analyzer and LIV characterization (threshold current, power, thermal roll-over analysis).
• Development of Matlab and Python based library comprising signal processing algorithms and complex data evaluation routines.
• Program hardware trigger implementation in C++ for high-speed digitizer in prototype instrument.
• Design, testing and qualifying of optical equipment according to specifications to IRsweep’s customers.

• Design, fabrication and electro-optical characterization of graphene field effect transistor (GFET) based optical modulator. Non-linear measurements using femtosecond laser pulses were performed on this device for the investigation of electrically switchable third harmonic generation and four-wave mixing in graphene. Tasks involved simulation, electrical transport analysis, process development (photo-lithography, metal evaporation, lift-off, plasma etching, exfoliation, annealing) and characterization with nonlinear optical microscopy, AFM and Raman spectroscopy.

• Development of CAD framework for designing monolithic 3D-stacked circuits by harnessing existing 2D EDA tools (from Cadence and Synopsys)
• Development of 3D standard cell library, SRAM 6T cell based on 7nm FinFET technology node, from transistor-level monolithic 3D (M3D) integration and assessment of layout parasitics due to inter-layer interconnect congestion.
• Design of interconnect models and their verification for two viable M3D architectures proposed in the work.
• Comparative analysis of monolithic 3D integrated architectures with 2D counterpart in terms of power, performance and footprint reduction. The work description involved physical design & verification (layout, DRC, LVS), parasitic RC extraction, post-layout simulation & characterization using Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre and Synopsys Raphael.
