As a consultant with the Centre for Environment Education for the Aawam (Achieving Action in Waste Management) project, she advanced livelihood initiatives through waste management with SHGs in Puri, Orissa. Leading the Pilot Project on Waste Management in the Bhalaswa Resettlement Colony under the Yamuna Action Plan Awareness Project, which achieved the 3Rs of waste management. She facilitated the creation of various small-scale ventures on livelihoods from waste among the underprivileged. At the onset of her career, her commitment to the UNICEF UBS project socially empowered women in Rourkela Steel City and enabled them to establish small enterprises through SHGs, microcredit, and bank linkages, leading to their financial empowerment.
