• magicpin is India’s leading savings app that helps its users save some real money across online and offline shopping experiences. I was part of the founding team and played de facto CTO role. Have seen the company grow from a seed funding round ($3M) to Series D ($60M), from 1K to ~3M monthly active customers, from 0 to $3M monthly revenue. Some of the key highlights from this journey include -
• Built the tech org of 60 world-class engineers
• Represented magicpin in the Google Launchpad Accelerator Program - 2016
• Defined Product Strategy, Roadmap, and monthly/quarterly operating plan by working with other stakeholders
• Managed the tech org budgets including infrastructure spends
• Managed external tech audits and compliances including PCI-DSS
• Grounded up core transactional systems - SMS reward system, Bill reward system, Internal Wallet system, and Voucher system
• Grounded up content management system & Search - Metadata storage for 3M+ merchants available on the platform. CMS and Search together empower the majority of the discovery features on magicpin platform
• Grounded up Internal payment gateway - Integrated almost all the leading payment gateways e.g. PayU, PayTM, Cashfree, GPay, APay, PhonePe, etc. Defined and managed the real-time transaction, refund, and reconciliation flows.
• Grounded up Consumer Apps - Managed delivery of customer & parter android/iOS apps
• Managed the relationships with cloud partners (GCP & AWS) with a cloud spent of $1M+/year
• Led the 2 major infrastructure migrations without any downtime - one from AWS to GCP and another within GCP from Singapore to the Mumbai region
• Defined processes, introduced Kubernetes and shifted 30% workload to GKE, managed the entire infrastructure without any dedicated dev ops resources with a flexibility to support 5X and 10X peak load at 99.95% availability

• Led the effort to transform product architecture of our main application from PL/SQL based web application to an object oriented, metadata driven, Java based web application
• Developed native data access layer
• Developed code generator framework to generate Business Objects
• Defined generic APIs to perform CRUD operations on generated Business Objects
• Defined system architecture and programming guidelines
• Designed and developed Web Services infra as part of the move towards SOA
• Cloud hosting - Introduced Cloud to Oneshield engineering and led the POC to successfully host multiple product offerings in AWS. This unblocked a big business opportunity to serve smaller clients with in smaller budgets and better TATs.
• Contributed in the architectural evolution of our .NET windows form based meta data management application (Designer) to an object oriented, metadata driven, Java web application
• Moved the platform towards SOA
• Improved the product design to make it application server agnostic
• Used Spring AOP and Generics APIs to build some foundational capabilities which saved a lot of programming effort of the team

• Tradus.com was the leading e-commerce platform of its time under the Ibibo group (MIH India). It was the first true marketplace in India. I headed the engineering team of the seller content management group. This group was responsible for maintaining all the product-related data. It included product details, images, price & availability information, shipping-related data, and promotions. A few of the key initiatives which I led within this group were -

• Clearsenses was a tech solution provider, during my tenure I worked on multiple projects for a couple of clients Enfold and Lulu. I managed the end to end product delivery for Enfold and alongside helped the organisation grow from 4 to 13 people.

• I was part of the “Vendio Research” product that helped eBay sellers know about the market trends of different products on eBay for the last 12 weeks. This product was built using cutting-edge data mining techniques (taxonomy, classification, and indexing). I worked on various new features like Top Sellers, Top Keywords, and Search suggestions.
• Vendio Research was the runner up in the eBay Innovations category for the year 2009

• Joined Goldman Sachs through campus recruitment and was part of the Billing System of the Asset Management division. Worked on redesigning the billing engine including its UI/UX. Travelling to New York and London to interact with end-users and team members was a great experience.

• Developed and prototyped an edit sequence algorithm to detect differences between local and remote databases for Lotus Notes. Received a pre-placement offer from IBM ISL Pune.
