About

I oversee all of Mastercard’s activities across South Asia, including business strategy, sales, product management, marketing and engagements with customers and regulators. As head of the firm’s South Asia division, I lead operations across the sub-continent, covering Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan, in addition to India. From 2019-2022, I served as Regional Chief Technology Officer for Asia Pacific. As a member of Mastercard’s AP management team, I spearheaded $1.2Bn in technology investments. Accomplishments include: a) driving delivery of the first PBOC-certified bankcard clearing switch developed by a foreign network that will enable Mastercard’s domestic market entry in China; b) overseeing development and execution of a regional-hub for real-time payments; and c) delivering various on-soil processing flavors in India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Prior to this, I was Group Head & SVP of Domestic & Real-time Payments (RTP), responsible to forge Mastercard's partnerships with domestic schemes to provide RTP technologies in AP. I created strong pull for RTP technology adoption in the region and executed Mastercard’s RTP and multi-rail driven consumer choice strategy by creating a strong sales pipeline. I crafted, led negotiations, and executed a long-term commercial agreement with BancNet, Philippines’s domestic switch, to provide technology, stand-up, and manage operations for the national payments infrastructure – the largest/fastest executed deal in Mastercard’s RTP history. I joined Mastercard as VP of Strategy, Corporate Development, and M&A. I was architect of the multi-rail strategy that led to Mastercard's $1Bn acquisition of UK-based Vocalink. In addition, I formulated Mastercard's country strategy that propelled Mastercard to committing multi-million dollar investments for India; designed a playbook to respond to growing Localization in payments by taking a partnership-led approach with domestic schemes and regulators; and shaped Mastercard’s Digital Identity strategy. Prior to Mastercard, I was an Engagement Manager in the Corporate Finance & Strategy practice of McKinsey & Company in New York. I started my career at Deem, a valley start-up, where I spent 8 years in product development and was instrumental in securing $100Mn in Round-D funding from Chase/Amex. I hold an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where I graduated with honors. I also hold Master’s and Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science from Cornell University and Manipal Institute of Technology, respectively.
