Hello! I'm Tarun. I’m a technologist by training and experience who is currently doubling as a history hobbyist. Most of my career has been spent building and architecting some of India’s largest consumer apps, but currently I am on a career break focused on a new kind of engineering: making boring history feel cinematic. I run Dastaan by Tarun, where I’ve focused on taking a field I love - History - and using visual media to make it interesting. I've successfully poured myself into learning this new craft, generating 11k+ followers on Instagram and around 2.5k on YouTube with multiple videos hitting millions of views. I even explored some GenAI APIs on the side to build hobby products around those workflows. The Tech Stack (Where I Built My Chops) I built my foundations in some of the fastest-moving tech ecosystems in India: Tech Lead at JioHotstar: My biggest challenge was leading the iOS AdTech team, architecting complex, high-stakes modules like the client-side AdServe library and Interactive Ads across Live and VOD content. I even managed to snag second prize in a company-wide Hackathon with hundreds of participants. SDE3 at Meesho: I was the first developer hired to build the iOS app from scratch and hired the entire iOS development team. I was promoted to SDE-III, with the added responsibility of mentoring junior developers and ensuring a robust and scalable codebase. Software Developer at JioSaavn: This is where I cut my teeth on mobile advertising, implementing major parts of the Interstitial and Banner Ad Logic and revamping the whole Event Tracking Framework. When I’m not digging into historical archives or debugging a codebase in my head, I enjoy listening to long-form content, building small GenAI side projects, and probably plotting the next dramatic historical reel. And as you’ve figured, I tend to ramble, even when this was supposed to be a summary. :)
