Shruti started her career as a developer in middleware security group at IBM, an emerging tech group (WebAhead) where her research on instant messaging, location-based services, VoIP, & collaboration tools became the next commercial product at IBM (Lotus Sametime). She then built an incubator (Technology Adoption Program) which was adopted by 1/3rd (120K employees) of the company in 2 years. 20% of the technology from the incubator was adopted by product groups such as Websphere, Tivoli, and Lotus. She also helped commercialize the incubator platform and sell it to companies such as Nokia and Sprint.
Later she worked at a think tank/do tank for IBM’s Chairman & CEO, Sam Palmisano’s, office. The program was created to solve big problems in the world. Some of the topics addressed by the team were Water, Security, Healthcare, and Media. The National Genographic project in partnership with National Geographic, and current IBM Smarter Planet are two of the few the outcomes of this team.
