  • Studied the existing design of End Packing between the HP and LP chambers of turbines. Using six sigma tools, found a few critical factors effecting leakage (End Packing length and number of seals). Optimized the End packing Design for a particular Steam Turbine that reduced leakage by 50%.
  • Set up a state-of-the-art digital radiography lab at GE Bangalore. Developed automated techniques to select Optimum Exposure Parameters (Tube potential, Focal Spot, Exposure time, Tube current, Number of frames and Required Magnification) incorporating scatter and beam hardening corrections for Industrial Digital Radiographic applications.
  • Developed an algorithm to map a digital radiograph from gray scale to the thickness of the object. This provided the quantitative information about the thickness from a radiograph to the accuracy of 10%. Various models related to X-Ray generation, X-Ray interaction, scatter, beam hardening, and X-ray detection were developed and incorporated.
