  • NetApp has its own file system called WAFL (Write Anywhere File Layout). I was part of WAFL development team. The key areas I worked are described below:
  • Worked on the module which is responsible for ensuring the file system consistency as well as fixing the corruptions along with other inconsistencies within the file system. NetApp calls this module as WAFLIRON/WACK which is similar to the other consistency checkers like Fsck (in unix world) and ScanDisk/ChkDsk (in Windows/MS-DOS world). I was part of 3 people team working on this module.
  • I have also worked closely with the team which analyzes and looks deeply into the core dumps to dig the root cause of most of the issues. It requires thorough knowledge of all the subsystems of ONTAP.
