Romain Huet is a French entrepreneur and engineer with a passion for developer platforms. He currently leads Developer Experience at OpenAI, inspiring and supporting founders and builders to integrate AI into their applications, and directing the creation of elegant and powerful tools for all developers. Previously, Romain spent five years at Stripe, leading product management for the developer platform and overseeing global developer relations. Before Stripe, he helped with the relaunch of Twitter’s developer platform and co-founded Jolicloud in Paris, where he developed a cloud-based operating system and the Jolibook, a personal computer.

  • Keynote speaker at Twitter Flight in San Francisco during Jack Dorsey’s keynote, where I built an iPhone app live on stage using a dozen of new features in under 15 minutes, including payments with Stripe and identity with Amazon Cognito, all the way to getting the app ready for the App Store.

  • Jolicloud was a pioneer in cloud computing with the Jolibook, the first personal cloud computer, and Joli OS, the first cloud OS designed for netbooks and low-cost computers.
  • Built and released the first versions of the operating system leading to the Series A of $4.2M led by Atomico and Mangrove Ventures.
  • Designed and launched Joli OS, the first cloud operating system paving the way toward products like Chrome OS and the Chromebook, and pushing the envelope of what the browser could do with HTML5. Joli OS was installed on over 2 million computers around the world.
  • Led a team of 20 engineers and product designers, with technologies and surface areas spanning from the cloud platform to the web interfaces and down to the Linux kernel.
  • Launched the Jolibook, the first personal computer with Joli OS preinstalled, a partnership between our Jolicloud design and engineering teams and two hardware and manufacturing companies. It was a finalist for “Netbook of the Year” at Engadget Awards, alongside Google’s first Chromebook.
  • Introduced the Jolicloud Open Platform, making it possible for developers to build their simple Node.js components to bring their apps, media, and storage services to all Jolicloud users.

  • Netvibes has been acquired by Dassault Systèmes in 2012 and stopped maintaining the open source platform, but still runs on the foundation of UWA to this day.
