The short version: I've spent 10 years in Technical Recruiting and am now a solo founder, law student, and fractional recruiter for health tech startups. I operate on short-to-medium contracts for recruiting, operations, and ATS setup. The long version: In 2016, I walked away from recruiting to retrain as a software engineer. No job, no income, and no roadmap. All I had was a stubborn belief that I could learn to code and build something meaningful in tech. I took courses in Discrete Math and Java, learning the basics of computer science at Mills College. And something unexpected happened... As I was writing methods and reading documentation, my mind kept going back to recruiting: - The sluggish follow-ups - The scattered interview notes - The inefficient hiring processes That frustration pulled me back in. That summer, I picked up a part-time recruiting role at a streaming media startup, supporting Data Engineering, Product, and App Dev teams. I learned how they shipped products using tools like Confluence, Jira, and agile rituals. I got curious. Took courses in Product Management, Python, and UI Design. That’s when it clicked: Recruiting is a product. Since then, I’ve built hiring systems across four tech startups, designing for candidates, hiring managers, and execs alike. What started as frustration became a decade-long obsession with fixing how companies hire. All while improving business outcomes, team morale, and candidate experience. These days, I partner with Health Tech startups to hire Full Stack Software Engineers in San Francisco.
