Specialties: water resources, social and environmental innovation, socio-hydrology, water policy, development, water sustainability, I am currently the Executive Director of WELL (Water, Environment, Land and Livelihoods) Labs, a new research and innovation centre at IFMR, in collaboration with Krea University, established for research and innovation for societal impact in the area of land and water sustainability. The lab will identify new and innovative solutions, backed by evidence, to address the grand challenges of our time pertaining to water. The lab will co-create an active research and innovation agenda with the participation of external stakeholders and explicit translation of research outputs to measurable societal impact. I am a Senior Adjunct Fellow at the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Bangalore. Prior to joining ATREE, I worked for several years on energy and water issues in India, California and globally. I have a Masters in Energy and Environmental Studies from Boston University and a B-Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. I received my PhD from Stanford University’s Emmet Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER) in 2008.
