• The objective of this research project will be to understand the impact of climate change on the quality and quantity of water accessible to
• different users, particularly weaker sections, and the household and governance factors that shape vulnerability, coping and adaptation.
• The project team has already begun work in the Arkavathy sub-basin in the outskirts of Bangalore. Work in a second basin will begin soon.
• This research project will adopt a bottom–up approach to understand climate impacts and arrive at recommendations. Multiple interactions
• with local experts, water managers, and users will be an integral part of this research. Then we will integrate detailed biophysical understanding with an
• understanding of the socio-technical infrastructure and institutional mechanisms through which climate change impacts will be felt by water users. A web-based simulation model will be used in tandem with iterative stakeholder interactions to promote participatory learning and knowledge sharing.

• The objective of the Prince Claus Chair is to continue the work of Prince Claus (1926-2002) in development and equity by establishing a rotating Chair.
