About

I help founders and leaders turn ideas into aligned, lasting impact - without the huge time commitment - via my programmes, book, advisory and 1:1. Here's how I got here:Started in advertising and media at the BBC in London, building content and campaigns, learning how to truly connect with audiences and create lasting impact. Made the leap into entrepreneurship after moving to Dubai and having my first baby in 2014.Built my first company - Hopscotch - after witnessing first hand the huge lack of opportunity for women and mums. Pioneered flexible work, partnered with UN Women and huge corporates, expanded to Asia. But couldn't scale the model to truly solve the problem of bias in the workplace. Needed to pivot so built Diversely - the first AI driven tech solution to hiring biases - in 2020. Raised from 18 investors (60% through personal brand activity) Won global press, partners and awards (150+ and counting) Went through 3 accelerators (inc Antler and The London Mayor's Business Programme). And finally exited for seven figures to The Access Group in the UK in 2024. Went on to train in CBT and Reiki. And wrote my first book, The Female Founder Formula, to give impact founders + leaders the frameworks + roadmap I never had as a mum of three in a very male dominated space (https://helenmcguire.net/founderformula). Now I run 1:1 advisory and flexible programmes - The Founder's Sanctuary and The LinkedIn Lab - for early-stage impact founders + leaders who want actionable progress, not just another networking group. It's been an intentional, nonlinear, slightly crazy but completely worthwhile journey. One that’s taken me across the world with my husband and 3 kids. And I'm just getting started. My mission is simple:→ To give impact founders + leaders the playbook I never had - one that builds aligned, sustainable personal and business growth. If you want to find out a bit more about what we do head here - https://helenmcguire.net/founderformula or book a call via the link in my bio if you're serious about personal and business growth ✨.

Hopscotch.work

Co-founder & CEO

Apr 2016May 2020 · 4 yrs 1 mo · Dubai, United Arab Emirates

  • As the Founder & CEO I led a team in pioneering the first multi-award-winning women’s careers platform in the MENA region, growing our community from zero to over 80,000 in just three years and expanding to Asia in 2018.
  • Through strategic collaborations with brands such as HSBC, Mastercard, Google, LinkedIn, and Nestlé, we placed and trained over 1,000 women, launching return-to-work initiatives in Dubai and Singapore. We also developed a full digital content and social media strategy, while providing in-house training for companies like Avanade, Lenovo, and Unilever.
  • I built partnerships with women's and business networks across APAC and MENA, including LeanIn, BBG, and United Women, and led efforts to support non-profits through talent provision. As a lead member of UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, I remained committed to driving gender equality and workplace inclusion, helping to shape a more inclusive professional landscape.
  • We drove all PR efforts, securing nearly 200 media features across TV, radio, print, and online, while also creating and sponsoring over 100 events across MENA, APAC, and Europe in partnership with organisations like UN Women, Nama, and Ellevate.
  • The brand ultimately folded into my next venture, Diversely, taking our on-ground learnings and turning them into an AI driven global tech solution to the issues of bias and non-inclusion in the workplace.
