Brendan B. — CEO
My recent role at Jemena as Corporate Development Manager Northern Territory, was based in Darwin and included corporate support responsibilities for strategic energy projects in northern Western Australia. Being employed in the energy sector since 2000 I have been accountable for leading and building strategic partnerships and managing key relationships across government, business and industry, education and community sectors. I have extensive experience in areas of government and public relations, business reputation enhancement, stakeholder engagement, crisis management and corporate communications. I have a heart for those who live in and drive the economic, social and environmental prosperity in regional and remote communities across our country’s vast landscape. Having lived and worked in regional communities for over 30 years I am a passionate advocate of a decentralised governance model which promotes capacity building and targeted investment beyond metropolitan precincts. I have demonstrated capability in translating strategic aspiration to reality; promoting initiatives and projects of innovation and value which can significantly improve the productivity, sustainability and amenity of regional communities. From 2007 to 2018 I was Horizon Power's key representative on the Australian Square Kilometre Array Industry Consortium (ASKAIC), working collaboratively with a range of global and national companies as well as local, State and Commonwealth government stakeholders to develop the Pathfinder and SKA Projects. Previously, I have held professional and managerial roles in areas of Education, Sport and Recreation. I have been involved in the administration of two World Swimming Championships (1991 and 1998) and worked extensively in the development and implementation of state and national youth leadership programs. In 2001 I was awarded The Centenary Medal of Australia in recognition of service to WA regional communities. I am a Fellow of Leadership WA (2004) and a previous Executive member of the Australian China Business Council (ACBC) WA Branch. In February 2015 I was appointed to the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Perth Committee (completed February 2018). In a voluntary capacity I have been a long serving Director at 98Five Sonshine FM, a volunteer mentor at WA Rugby and Chair of Crossroads Community for the Archdiocese of Perth. I am a current supporter of and advocate for Hope 103.2 and the University of Notre Dame Australia.
