Broadly working in the area of Embedded Systems - teaching and research at IIT-Bombay. We have established an "Embedded & Realtime Systems" lab working on safety critical systems for various industries including process industry and the automobile industry. We have experience in building safety-critical realtime operating systems (RTOS) and also of designing and delivering embedded systems. Specialties: Embedded systems design and delivery, reconfigurable computing, fault tolerant systems.

e-Yantra arose out of the Distance Education Program of IIT-Bombay of which I was the Program Coordinator in 2001.
e-Yantra was a response to the lack of hands on training in the Higher Education system in India. It started from an attempt to train students in Embedded Systems and Robotics remotely using Project Based Learning (PBL). e-Yantra trains through online competitions that are actually Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) training participants in skills using a combination of open source simulators and hardware.
The popularity of the competition is evident in the exponential rise of registrations from 4500 in 2012 to over 34,500 in 2019. After a slight dip over COVID registrations have resumed their exponential growth.
e-Yantra now trains thousands of students in complex engineering skills using PBL through competitions that last 6+ months. The outcome is top-notch placements, an appetite for PG degrees and spontaneous startups based on the technology stacks developed by e-Yantra.
Since 2012 e-Yantra has trained over 200,000+ students and set up over 475 e-Yantra labs as the hubs of innovation ecosystems in colleges.
