Rakesh Ningthoujam — Head of Growth

I have three titles. One official. Two unofficial. Here's the story: My official one is Head of Growth Marketing; pretty straightforward, sums up what I do well—help GeekyAnts grow by being at the helm of content creation, visual design, performance marketing, campaigns, SEO, and efficient functioning of the marketing team. --- The unofficial titles have more nuances. ;) I am often called Masterji. It started out as nod to my knowledge sharing sessions called The Great Marketing Huddle every Monday, and also to my breakdowns of key marketing concepts. I loved to teach whatever I know and had learnt about marketing. It was my first time being a manager was since the team consisted mostly of freshers, the sessions kind of became my lecture rooms and an opportunity to bring everyone to the same level of understanding. Over time, these sessions grew from four beanbags to 14 seater rountable discussions, where the health of the team and campaigns were discussed, not just me sharing insights. But the name stuck, and it is one that I love. The next one is Marketing Jiraiya. It points to me being part of every function that a marketer can do—writing, shippable design, video, process creation, account management, community management, paid marketing, SEO, strategy, and more. I also had a phase where I was mentoring specific team members as I was setting up the processes for it. This was an exciting time for me as at GeekyAnts we started out as a 5 member marketing team. It is now scaled up to 16. During the scaling up, I was hands on with most teams and working closely with key stakeholders to set things up. --- Now...the teams are set and its time for growth. I am currently working on empowering the team with AI tools and finding the balance between branding efforts and conversion activities. As I do this, I cannot help but wonder what nickname or title I might get next. :)
